Save the Queens Head Meeting – Mon 19th September

Save The Queens Head.

Meeting on Monday 19th September 2016, 7:3-pm, Chalgrave Memorial Hall.

You may be aware that the brewery, Charles Wells, has informed the Parish Council via Central Beds. that they intend to ‘dispose of the asset’. In other words, to close it and put it up for sale.

The Parish Council made the pub a Community Asset a few years ago. This means that if the community intends to put a bid in to buy the pub then the brewery cannot sell it to any other bidder for six months. This does not mean that Charles Wells has to accept the bid from the community. An intention to bid from the community has to come from a properly constituted organisation i.e. a company. The intention to bid has to be made within six weeks of the original notice of disposal. Working with the Plunkett Foundation a Community Cooperative is in the process of being quickly formed, for the benefit of the community, called ‘The Tebworth Community Pub Limited’.

The Parish Council has arranged for a public meeting – 19th September in the Memorial Hall 7:30pm

Please come to the meeting. It will be an opportunity to discuss the future of the Queens Head, gauge the interest in buying the pub and for the group who has formed the company to explain the constitution of the company.
