Rogation Walk Report

Rogation Day Walk 2016

A record turnout saw the small gathering of villagers boosted in numbers by the Dunstable Bog Trotters, who joined us for the annual Rogation Day ‘Beating the Bounds’ walk.

Lead by Ken Green, 24 walkers set off from the Queens Head along footpaths, bridleways, roads, and some tracks only allowed on this one day every year. There were a variety of obstacles to be tackled on the off-piste parts of the route. This included a number of streams that had to be crossed (resulting in few muddy/wet boots!) and a tricky barbed wire fence crossing with the aid of Ken’s trusty custom made ladder.

After a well deserved break at the Fancott, some walkers retired and called it a day, while some new Bog Trotters joined us for the afternoon session, which was a much simpler walk with no obstacles. After 10.5 miles, 21 weary walkers arrived back the Queens Head. Fine weather and good company made this an enjoyable day’s walking.
