Chalgrave News Issue 56 – Autumn 2017.

Issue 56, Autumn 2017.

The latest issue of the Chalgrave News (Issue 56, Autumn 2017) is now available to view here, or browse other past issues.

As summer transitions to autumn and the leaves on the trees slowly change from green, to red and gold, the temperature drops and our thoughts begin to turn to Christmas. The only constant in life is change and things are certainly changing for our Chalgrave pubs. We bid a fond farewell to Plough tenants, Chris and Caroline and welcome Dave and Stacey. Recently we learned the long-run community campaign to buy the Queens Head has been unsuccessful. The short term future of the Queens Head is unclear. But clearly, change is coming and we, as a community, will need to be responsive to that change.

You’ll notice some changes in the Chalgrave News too, with the return of the ‘Aunt Agnes’ problem page and a ‘Chalgrave Childhood’; the first of a series of articles that looks back on how different life in Tebworth and Wingfield was 50 or 60 years ago, which clearly shows us just how much change has already happened. Some things, of course, never change like the beautiful sunset on our front cover, captured by Mike Wells of Wingfield. If you have a local photo, our next edition will be out in January and we could do with a lovely winter scene.
