The latest issue of the Chalgrave News (Issue 46, March 2015) is now available to view here .

This being the March edition, the News naturally has a strong Christmas theme. In case there are one or two of you to whom this makes no sense, it’s because our printing schedule means that the previous issue was assembled at the end of November so this is the first chance we have to cover the festive activities of December. And what a busy month that was, with the switching on of the magnificent Christmas lights in St Mary’s Close, the senior citizens’ Christmas lunch, carol singing in the Plough, Santa’s tour of Chalgrave, and our Christmas lights competition. Reports on all these events are covered in the pages that follow.  But we also carry many non-Christmassy items, including the first instalment of a major article by Gillian Morrison, who is the daughter of local man Fusilier George Mawson Holmes who lost his life in the Second World War and who was featured in our December edition. We also have an account of another beer festival, more stories of porcine capers, a report of tremendous fund raising by the Queen’s Head in support of “Children in Need”, and, of course, many other entertaining and informative pieces from our regular contributors.
